Description of Areas of Concern

Areas of concern are specific issues or challenges that require attention, analysis, or improvement to achieve better outcomes in any field or situation.

What are stretch marks?
Stretch marks are a form of discolored and indented scarring on the skin which occurs when
the skin stretches or shrinks faster than it can handle. They can be white and shiny or pink and
discolored in appearance depending on whether they are new or old. Although stretch marks
are perfectly normal, they can be unsightly and are an insecurity for many people.
Stretch marks are permanent scars on the body, however there are several treatment options
available on the market which can make them less noticeable, and even invisible in certain
cases. At Vitalize Skin Clinic, we offer micro needling with the latest and most advanced devices
on the market, equipped with enhanced safety features and licensed by Health Canada. Our
device has been historically used by dermatologists and medical professionals alike to treat the
toughest of scars, including thick burn scars, with remarkable results. In addition to
micro needling, a professional chemical peel may be combined for further skin rejuvenation and
correction by peeling the top layer of the skin.
  • Inflammation caused by deep acne
  • Genetics
  • Picking, scratching or popping acne
  • Poor healing process which causes too little or too much collagen production, resulting in
    sunken or raised scars
Age spots, sun spots, or liver spots are darkened spots on the skin caused by exposure to
ultraviolet light. They are typically visible on areas of the skin which are most often exposed to
the sun such as the face and arms and are tan or brown in color. Age spots are most common
in people who are over 50, have lighter skin, and are prone to sunburns, however anyone can
get them.
Vitalize Skin Clinic offers laser pigmentation removal to treat age spots, brown spots, and
freckles with the Health Canada approved, Candela Gentle Max Pro laser device. Laser
treatment will cause the dark spots to flake off and/or diminish in appearance safely and without
damaging the surrounding skin. In addition, chemical peels may also lighten dark spots by
peeling off the top layer of the skin.

to peel the top layer of the skin and exfoliate dead skin cells.
    • Laser therapy – more precise method to target hyperpigmentation, especially for freckles,
sun spots, and rosacea without affecting the surrounding undamaged layer of the skin.
    • Hydradermabrasion facial – exfoliates dead skin cells, removes blackheads, nourishes
and deep cleans the skin with the powerful tri-modality VenusGlow facial device,
resulting in a more vibrant and even skin complexion.
    • Micro needling – stimulates the production of collagen by causing controlled micro-injuries
to the skin which heal to produce more even skin in tone and texture.

clinically proven skincare products including exfoliants, cleansers, serums, moisturisers,

Common causes for flare ups include:
  • Weather related flare ups
  • Diet, especially spicy foods and hot beverages
  • Stress
  • Medical conditions
  • Blood vessel irregularities
Melasma is a skin condition, which results in blotchy patches of brown skin discolouration on the face, often triggered by hormonal changes, pregnancy, or sun exposure. Melasma may be
lifelong or last for years, although in other cases it fades with time. It is common for recurrences
of melasma to occur with sun exposure, therefore continuous SPF application is advised.

What causes stretch marks?
Stretch marks are most common amongst women, however can also occur on men and are
caused by a variety of factors including: genetics, rapid weight gain or weight loss, muscle
growth, puberty, pregnancy, diet and lifestyle, crushing syndrome, etc.
Acne scars are discoloured or indented scars which are left behind after acne clears up. Acne
scars can be shallow or deep depressions and discoloured red, pink, purple, or brownish hues
depending on your skin tone. These scars, like any other scar, are typically permanent without
intervention, although they may fade over time.
Vitalize Skin Clinic offers clinically proven micro needling and professional chemical peels to
repair acne scars. Chemical peels are generally recommended for superficial scarring and
pigmentation, whereas micro needling tackles deeper and more indented scarring. A
combination of the two procedures may be recommended for full rejuvenation, resulting in
smoother, younger, and even looking skin. At Vitalize Skin Clinic, we use Health Canada
licensed, top of the line devices with advanced safety features to regenerate damaged skin, aid
in collagen production, and diminish the appearance of scarring.

Leg veins, or varicose veins are large bulging veins within the skin’s surface, typically present in
the legs and dark blue or purple in appearance. Spider veins are typically often present in the
face and legs and are clustered blood vessels within the surface of the skin, similar in
appearance to a spiderweb. They are often purple, red, or blue.
Vitalize Skin Clinic uses the Health Canada approved, Candela Gentle-Max Pro laser device to
treat vascular lesions and leg and facial veins. This laser device is a multi-wavelength powerful
system which safely and efficiently destroys blood vessels and removes facial veins, leg veins,
and spider veins in a virtually painless way without affecting the surrounding skin.

Rosacea is a skin condition which causes longterm redness and flushing to the skin brought
about by flareups. Common side effects of rosacea include enlarged blood vessels, visible veins
and bumps which resemble acne on the skin.
Rosacea is a life-long condition, although treatments can help reduce and manage symptoms.
At Vitalize Skin Clinic, Rosacea is treated using laser therapy, which uses light energy to
diminish redness and visible blood vessels. The laser targets dilated blood vessels, causing
them to coagulate, and in turn, diminishes redness and evens the skin tone.
In addition to laser treatment, it is recommended for people with rosacea to use products
specific to their skin-type, including sunscreen, and refrain from harsh exfoliants, irritants, or
fragrances in skin-care products.
